GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE! Yep I said it. And it's definitely easier said than to actually do. But, I believe in you. It's time to start doing what you've been putting off and avoiding....it's time to feel some pain, push yourself and get uncomfortable! A lot of you have come to me saying that you aren't where you want to be. WHY?! Because you KEEP doing the SAME unproductive and worthless activities (searching on job boards, applying to hundreds of jobs online, waiting, etc)....hoping for a new outcome (great interview, new job, better paying salary, etc). You keep doing what is EASY, comforting to you and that is the QUICKEST way to end up WITHOUT a new job, bigger bank account, body and life that is less than you're capable of. It's time to step it up. Raise your intensity level. Have big goals. PERFORM AT A LEVEL THAT SCARES THE HECK OUT OF PEOPLE AROUND YOU! Get comfortable doing the hard things, working long hours, making phone calls and connections that make you nervous, pushing your body in the gym and being DISCIPLINED in every area of your life. Learn to push yourself to the point of fear, pain and exhaustion....only THEN will you become stronger and better than you are today, gaining the confidence you need to succeed. You have all the potential in the world and are capable of GREAT things. But until you grow up and get out of that comfortable bed of yours, you'll never be able to create the most exceptional version of yourself. And in the career world....people will then start to see the value you add to organizations and will be excited to bring you on board. So what can you do? 1. Have a daily action plan (how can you succeed without a plan?!) 2. Set deadlines for yourself (put personal meetings in a calendar!) 3. Limit distractions around you (kids, family, tv, etc) 4. Focus on what you CAN do, not what you can't control We become stronger every time we face our fears. You are a warrior. You WILL come out of this stronger. If you consider getting a new job or advancing your career as one of those events in life that require perseverance and discipline, you will succeed where others fail. If you are able to dedicate any and all free time to finding that next job, your efforts will be rewarded. So, put your nose to the grindstone and accept the fact that finding a new job is going to take lots of work and extra effort. It’s going to require your utmost discipline. |
